St. Joseph's Church I
Here are some pictures I took yesterday of the magnificent, ghotic-inspired Church of St. Joseph, downtown in Victoria Street.
St. Joseph's was once a Cathedral when it was under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Macau (Porturguese Mission); the Bishop's Coat of Arms and insignia can still be found on the side walls, just outside the main entrance.
The current rector, Rev. Fr. Michael Teo, restored the Church back to it's glory when he took over about three years ago. He also managed to fill the pews of the old Church by having processions and devotions. Now the Church is proud to offer 4 Weekend masses.
It is also at St. Joseph's, where the faithful will be able to witness the traditional Portuguese Holy Week, Fatima and Corpus Christi processions.
She is one of the 3 remaining Churches in Singapore that has not replaced the High Altar with a Table. St. Joesph's has also retained the countless number of Statues, Stained Glass Windows, wood carved Pulpit.
Most of the photos below are of the Church's exterior. I will post the interior pictures soon.
