Why You Should Not Watch "The Nativity Story"

Kenny from The Sleepless Eye thinks that Catholics should not watch the Nativity story. I've yet to decide. Anyway, here's his post.

I saw it today. While I did disagree with Mary suffering birthing pangs, I loved the movie. The star of Bethlehem shining down on the Newborn King with the shepherd approaching was poignant. It was very beautiful at the end. I strongly recommend the movie.

The Mary of the 'Nativity Story' is definitely and decidedly fallen. Certainly not the same Mary as the Immaculate Conception free from original and personal sin. We ought to make reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We need to console our Sorrowful Mother. How many lukewarm Catholics will sit and watch this movie without being offended? How many priests? They will deny that the film is blasphemous when you tell them it is. They will tell you no movie is perfect and this, at least, is a religious film. Some will say that our Lady's perpetual virginity and Divine Maternity are fine beliefs, but the movie is about the birth of Jesus, and that's what matters. These are the same types who just had to read The Da Vinci Code, just out of curiosity, of course. May the promised Triumph of Immaculate Heart of Mary come soon.
