Initium Sancti Evangelii Secundum N.

During this evening's Eucharistic Sacrifice, the celebrant used these words to introduce the Gospel, "May the proclaimation of the Holy Gospel accroding to N. be always on our minds, on our lips and in our hearts." Though I do not know if it was liturgically correct for him to do that, I felt that it was a good initiative as we often sign our forehead, mouth and breast with the cross without recalling what it really means.

We make these three crosses as a declaration never to be ashamed of the word of God, that we are ready to confess it by the word of mouth, and that we love it with all our heart.

We should always keep the word of God in our hearts, as well on our lips,
since it is important to not only know the Gospel but also to live it.

After the Gospel, the celebrant (or Gospel reader) inaudibly prays, "May the words of the Gospel wipe out our sins?

Before the Gospel he inaudibly prays, "Almighty God, cleanse my heart and my lips that I may worthily proclaim your Gospel."

These two prayers are beautiful prayers of the Sacred Liturgy. There are a few other, like the one during the offertory, and the private prayer of the priest in preparation for Holy Communion, and the prayer for purifying the vessels, which are wonderful. Occassionally I hear these prayers aloud and love them. I try to pray them with the priests.

Read the black, do the red.

Its on the same level of adding to the additional words to the Agnus Dei or the later Ecce Agnus Dei.

Sounds nice, but its just an ad lib.
