We Have a Valid Cause!

In the 19th Sunday Ord. Time publication of NEWBEC (New Way of Being Church), Fr. Aloysius Mowe SJ writes, "A nostalgic longing for the marks of an imgined glorious past, for example, whether it be the Latin language, of the 'smells and bells' of the Baroque liturgy, is nothing but a manifestation of a lack of faith".

K.I.S.S. (Keeping it short and simple)

Good post! I thoroughly agree. There is a tendency amongst Catholics of a certain age (and ageing rapidly) who think that they know how everyone should think and that they have the only surefire way to Our Lord. I know of one who doesn't like exposition because apparently we get "too wrapped up in our own thoughts and how do we know we are closer to God at times like that?" when we are before the Blessed Sacrament. The same priest removed the corpus from the cross for veneration on Good Friday, we were left with an empty wooden cross with nail holes still visible.

You are left feeling like Mary Magdalene before the empty tomb, "They have taken away my Lord and I do not know where they have laid him".

The signs and symbols of our faith are so important, the ageing trendies who decry the "smells and bells" have done so much damage in their arrogance and ignorance of common worship. They need our prayers.

I agree with what you said. However, I am assuming that you read the whole letter. That being said, you have every reason to be relieved as he was not addressing it to you or others but rather people who obsess about the traditional liturgy so much so until they blind themselves from being lights of the world and salt of the earth.

Like I said, there's nothing you need to defend yourself against. Fr. Mowe would be happy with people like you around. He's unconventional and radical but is one of those orthodox ones.

Yes, I did read the entire article and I agreed with some of the points he raised.

Abortion stance etc...

Thank you for your comment!

Glory be to the Lord Jesus Christ! Anyways, my blog is now at http://cmnunis.wordpress.com. God bless always!
